Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Stowmarket
Salary: £35,000 Per Annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x the standard hourly rate
Holiday: 20 days annual leave plus Bank & Public Holidays
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our prestigious client withing their production and maintenance team. This is a very hands-on role within a manufacturing environment, where you will play a key part in installing new production equipment, maintaining plant machinery, and ensuring the smooth operation of the production line.
Initially, you will support the installation and commissioning of new machinery before transitioning into the day-to-day maintenance of the production facility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys problem-solving and working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical plant equipment and machinery.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections.
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repair solutions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Use engineering tools and workshop machinery safely and effectively.
- Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including fault finding and repairs.
- Assist with pumps and chemical dosing systems where required.
- Record maintenance activities, breakdowns, and corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the production line.
- Work collaboratively as part of the maintenance team.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
Skills & Experience Essential
- Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications or technical training.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards.
Desirable
- Experience within the panel, insulation, or cladding manufacturing sectors.
- Experience with pumps and chemical dosing systems.
- Previous involvement in machine installation or commissioning projects.
- Experience working on continuous production lines.

Interview Process
Successful candidates will be invited to attend a 30-minute face-to-face interview at the site. This provides an opportunity to meet the team, tour the facility, and gain an understanding of the working environment. Interview timings may vary depending on the availability of the Facility Manager.
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary of approximately £35,000 per annum
