Keeping refrigerated containers cool — whatever the weather.

We are looking for motivated and physically able Reefer Operatives to join our team working at the Port of Felixstowe.

This is an active, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for helping keep refrigerated containers operating safely and efficiently. If you’re comfortable working outdoors, don’t mind heights and can keep your cool in a fast-paced environment, this could be the role for you.

The Role

As a Reefer Operative, you’ll play a key part in monitoring and maintaining refrigerated containers across the port.

You’ll be working to strict deadlines, climbing gantry ladders, operating port vehicles and making sure containers are safely connected and monitored — all while working in a busy, safety-critical environment.

What You’ll Do

Monitor and record temperatures on refrigerated containers.

Plug and unplug refrigerated containers within strict deadlines.

Climb gantry ladders to access containers stacked up to four high.

Drive port vehicles safely and efficiently.

Identify and report container damage or issues promptly.

Work outdoors in all weather conditions — sunshine, rain, wind and everything Felixstowe can throw at you.

Follow all site Health & Safety procedures and work safely at all times.

Work efficiently as part of a busy operational team.

Shift Information

12-hour shifts:

06:00–18:00 — Days

18:00–06:00 — Nights

7-day operation, including weekends.

Weekly shift schedules provided in advance.

Flexibility is essential, as weekend and shift work is part of the role.

Who You Are

You hold a valid UK Driving Licence, held for at least 1 year.

You’re aged 19 or over.

You’re available to work weekends.

You’re physically fit and comfortable with manual and physically demanding tasks.

You’re happy working at height and climbing ladders.

You have good communication and time-management skills.

You can work calmly and safely in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

You’re reliable, hardworking and ready to get stuck in.

Before You Start

Successful candidates will need to:

Pass a medical assessment.

Pass a drug and alcohol test.

Complete the required site induction and training.

Be available on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th September.
