Chargehand/Tug Driver

Pay Rate: £14.88-17.16 per hour (PAYE)

TLP Recruitment is currently recruiting reliable and skilled individuals for an ongoing position at a modern, purpose-built facility in Harwich, Essex. This is an excellent chance to join a friendly and established team in a varied and rewarding role that offers stability.

This position involves a combination of Tug operation, shift Chargehand and manual handling tasks. Applicants must be flexible, as the site operates across 7 days with a mixture of morning and evening shifts, typically ranging from 7 to 9 hours.

Chargehand/Tug Key Responsibilities:

• Operating a tug to shunt and position trailers safely
• Shunt trailers on and off bays
• Communicating with supervisors to report on progress and issues
• Coordinating yard activities and communicating with HGV drivers
• Overseeing staff within the warehouse and monitoring progress
• Working in varied environments including warehouse, outside operations, and chilled areas

Additional Responsibilities:

• Liaising with port authorities to carry out product checks on EU imports
• Operating forklifts to load/unload trailers and distribute stock
• Operating Powered Pallet Trucks (PPTs)
• Manually unloading items from trailers and repacking them
• Maintaining cleanliness of all working areas post-turnouts
• Reporting any site concerns or incidents to supervisors

What We’re Looking For

• Valid UK driving licence
• Valid forklift licence with experience (desirable)
• Tug-driving experience (desirable)
• Previous experience warehouse experience
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check, site induction, and medical assessment
• A flexible and proactive attitude, especially regarding shifts and weekend work
