The Role
We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Transport Operator (Chief Traffic Tamer) to take the wheel of a fast-moving logistics operation. You’ll be the calm voice in the storm, the mastermind behind the schedules, and the person who somehow keeps 50 drivers, 7 staff, and a fleet of vehicles all pointing in the same direction — while keeping clients happy and the numbers heading the right way.
If you enjoy solving problems before your coffee gets cold, thrive under pressure, and can juggle operations, people, and commercial targets all at once — you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Orchestrating daily transport operations like a conductor (but with more high-vis and fewer violins)
- Leading and supporting a team of 7 office staff and managing a fleet of 50 drivers
- Building strong relationships with clients, acting as their go-to for service, issues, and opportunities
- Maximising revenue and identifying opportunities to grow sales within existing and new accounts
- Keeping routes efficient, compliant, and cost-effective
- Managing operational costs, including traffic office and depot overheads, without compromising service
- Providing smart, practical solutions to delivery challenges to keep freight moving and margins protected
- Handling the unexpected: traffic, breakdowns, last-minute changes… you name it
- Making sure compliance boxes are ticked without turning into the “fun police”
- Acting as the go-to problem solver, decision maker, and occasional therapist
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in transport/logistics operations at a senior level
- A natural leader who can motivate teams and hold people accountable
- Strong commercial awareness — you understand both service and profit
- Sharp organisational skills and the ability to think on your feet
- Confidence managing client relationships and spotting growth opportunities
- Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements
- A sense of humour — because plans will change, often
What You’ll Get
- A role where no two days are the same (seriously — no two hours are the same)
- The chance to lead from the front and make a real impact on both operations and profitability
- A supportive team that works hard and knows how to laugh when things get hectic
- Competitive salary and benefits (because you’ve earned it)
The Bottom Line
You’re the engine behind the operation — keeping everything moving, everyone informed, clients satisfied, and the business profitable. You balance service with commercial performance, solve problems before they escalate, and make sure every delivery counts toward the bottom line.
