Location: Folkestone, Kent
Salary: Competitive Salary + Commission + Car Allowance

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager to join an established global multimodal freight forwarder based in the Folkestone/Dover area.

You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and sourcing regular, profitable customers across road, sea, air and courier freight, with additional opportunities across warehousing and customs services.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established freight forwarding sales professional looking to take ownership of new business development, grow their customer portfolio and make a genuine commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the growth of the business by sourcing new, regular and profitable road, sea, air and courier freight customers
  • Identify customers with additional warehousing and customs requirements
  • Identify and convert potential new business opportunities, clients and markets
  • Identify additional ways to improve and develop services for existing clients
  • Work closely with the operations team to support account management and ensure a personable, tailored service
  • Maintain clear and profitable margins across accounts and jobs, maximising these wherever possible
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
  • Travel regularly to meet with potential and existing customers

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in a sales role within freight forwarding or logistics – Essential
  • Proven track record of success in Air, Sea or Road Freight Sales
  • Strong understanding of transport and international logistics
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Resilient and positive approach, particularly in challenging situations
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to develop strong relationships both over the phone and face-to-face
  • High level of IT literacy
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to meet customers
