Introduction to Port Services
The ports sector is diverse, encompassing a wide range of activities that are critical to many parts of the UK economy. Ports are a vital part of transport networks, which support domestic and international trade.
In total, well over 90% of the UK’s international trade by volume (75% by value) moves through them. Freight movements through UK ports have increased by 33% over the last twenty years and several UK ports rank amongst the top European ports by freight volume.
The sector has around 500 companies employing approximately 25,500 people.

Graeme spent over 10 years working in transport and logistics before joining The Logistics Partnership in 2010. Following five years heading up our temporary recruitment brands Graeme took overall responsibility for The Logistics Partnership, which includes MVP & TLP, in 2016. Beyond this, Graeme ensures that we grow profitably by recruiting the right people, helping them to develop to their full potential and ensuring that we maintain our business culture and achieve our strategic goals.
Graeme is a member of the Chartered Management Institute, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Graeme is a qualified Psychometric Practitioner, holds a national transport CPC, as well as an MBA with distinction. His final dissertation went on to be used as an international conference paper and was published in the International Journal of Applied Logistics, as well as The international Symposium on Production and Supply Chain Management.
As well as a career in Logistics and Recruitment, Graeme formerly ran, promoted and dj’d at his own club night in London where they held a residency which saw them DJ all over the country and abroad. He also plays guitar and is a total music nerd.

Andy’s driving/logistics recruitment career started back in 1998 after spending many successful years in direct sales.
He spent the first few years working for a local & national agency before deciding to set up on his own and in 2003 set up the More Driving brand. His long-term focus was for his business to become one of if not the largest supplier of temporary/permanent drivers along the South Coast. To date Andy has helped over 700 companies both locally & nationally on a daily & weekly basis with all their driving recruitment requirements and has helped many drivers secure permanent positions within thriving companies. Beyond the local success achieved by More Driving; it was this strategy that with Andy’s support went on to be adopted by TLP and provide the ongoing template for growth.
Andy is part owner and senior partner of The Logistics Partnership group where he now has responsibility supporting nationally on a diverse range of projects and initiatives.
Andy started his career in sales in his late teens, where he built a business selling water to the rave scene in the late 80’s and early 90’s. In his spare time Andy is a motor sport and car enthusiast who can tell you anything you wish to know about any model of car from any manufacturer from the late 60’s to the present day

Gemma gained her early work life experience within the freight and manufacturing industries, working a number of roles across operations, sales and customer services.
She joined TLP Recruitment in 2014 and over that time has progressed to Consultant, Senior Consultant, Business Manager, UK Business Development Manager, and most recently Regional Business Manager, managing our operations in Kent and Suffolk.
Gemma is a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, Recruitment & Employment Confederation and also supports and runs the events for the CILT diversity champions, Women in Logistics.

Avi began her career with a leading FMCG distributor, later moving to a well-known retailer where she held logistics and inventory management roles.
After forging a successful operational career in logistics, Avi then made the move into recruitment, building herself a solid reputation within the manufacturing/own account sectors and gaining valuable experience that enabled her to take the next steps in her career.
As our Business Partner, and Regional Manager for the TLP West Midlands operation, she has impeccable credentials and unparalleled knowledge. You will find her thorough, direct, pragmatic, straightforward, knowledgeable, constructive and confidential in her approach and conduct.
Avi is a regular attendee at local networking and industry events. She is also passionate about encouraging new talent into the world of logistics and will take time out of her hectic schedule to attend local schools to support students who want to know more about the industry.
Outside of work, Avi has an active family and social life. One of her passions is regularly attending a Bhangra dance class. Avi can really bust some moves!

Chris has been with TLP Recruitment for over 13 years, starting as a Driver’s Mate then moving into an office based role. He became a Consultant within the branch a year later, liaising with clients, organising bookings, advertising/resourcing roles and registering candidates.
In 2024, Chris was promoted to the role of Senior Consultant.
Outside of work, Chris is very much a family man and enjoys spending as much time as he can with his family, when he’s not playing darts that is!

Hayley then worked her way to become Office Manager, dealing with the day to day running of the office, payroll and administrative duties for our Poole operation.
However, most recently, Hayley made the decision to embark upon a career in consultancy and is now supporting the branch in working closely with the customers and candidates to support in all aspects of temporary and permanent recruitment.
