Manual Machinist – Days

Location: Worcester
Pay: £17.50–£20.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–16:00pm
Job type: Full-time, ongoing position

We are recruiting an experienced Manual Machinist to join the toolroom of an established engineering manufacturer in Worcester.

This position would suit a Manual Machinist, Toolmaker, Toolroom Machinist, Manual Miller or Manual Turner with experience producing and repairing tools, jigs and fixtures from engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture tools, jigs, fixtures and associated components.
• Repair and modify existing tooling, jigs and fixtures.
• Work accurately from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Operate manual lathes and milling machines.
• Carry out surface grinding, drilling and saw cutting.
• Complete bench-fitting work using hand tools.
• Check completed work using measuring equipment, including micrometers and digital verniers.
• Identify materials required for new tooling and repairs.
• Maintain tools and machinery to a high standard.
• Ensure all work meets the required quality and safety standards.
• Work with production and quality teams to meet deadlines.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Manual Machinist, Toolmaker, Toolroom Machinist or Jig and Fixture Maker.
• Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines.
• Knowledge of surface grinding, drilling and general bench fitting.
• Ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings.
• Confident using micrometers, verniers and other measuring equipment.
• Good attention to detail and a strong understanding of workshop safety.
• MIG welding experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as training can be provided.
