We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a growing manufacturing business in Stowmarket. If you enjoy fixing things, solving problems and keeping production machinery running smoothly, this could be right up your street.
Initially, you’ll be involved in the installation and commissioning of new production equipment before becoming a key part of the ongoing maintenance team.
The Role
We’re looking for a practical, reliable and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Technician who isn’t afraid to get stuck in.
From planned maintenance and routine inspections to breakdowns, fault finding and repairs, you’ll play an important role in keeping the production line running efficiently — because machines have a habit of choosing the worst possible moment to stop working.
What You’ll Do
Install, maintain and repair mechanical plant equipment and production machinery.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspections and routine servicing.
Respond quickly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
Diagnose mechanical faults and come up with effective repair solutions.
Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including fault finding and repairs.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Use engineering tools and workshop machinery safely and effectively.
Assist with pumps and chemical dosing systems where required.
Record maintenance activities, breakdowns and corrective actions.
Get involved in the installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
Contribute ideas and improvements to help keep the production line running efficiently.
Work closely with the wider maintenance and production teams.
Always work safely and in line with company procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
Who You Are
You have previous experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
You have a relevant mechanical engineering qualification, apprenticeship or technical training.
You’re confident working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
You can read and understand engineering drawings without them looking like ancient hieroglyphics.
You have experience with both planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
You’re a strong fault finder and enjoy getting to the bottom of mechanical problems.
You’re practical, proactive and comfortable working with your hands.
You can work independently but also know the value of being part of a good maintenance team.
You take Health & Safety seriously and like getting the job done properly.
Bonus Points
Experience within panel, insulation or cladding manufacturing.
Knowledge of pumps and chemical dosing systems.
Previous machinery installation or commissioning experience.
Experience working on continuous production lines.

A competitive salary of £35,000 -£37,000 per year.
Monday–Friday working hours, 8:00am–4:30pm, giving you your evenings and weekends back.
Overtime paid at 1.5x the standard hourly rate.
