Cargo Coordinator – Distribution & Planning
Portsmouth | Permanent – 40 hours per week
£32,000 – £35,000 DOE + Benefits

TLP Recruitment are working with a leading logistics and cargo-handling organisation who is seeking a Cargo Coordinator to join their busy Distribution & Planning team. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a varied role across both office and warehouse environments.

You'll be the key point of contact for customers, hauliers, and internal teams, coordinating general cargo bookings and overseeing customs processes within an External Temporary Storage Facility. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cargo operations, customs procedures, and excellent IT and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle bookings and queries from customers and hauliers
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient cargo movement
  • Update and manage internal and external IT systems accurately
  • Coordinate import/export customs processes in line with ETSF requirements
  • Monitor and manage stock control and container load planning
  • Ensure compliance with IMDG code and relevant safety procedures

What We're Looking For: Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience using Terminal Operating and Warehouse Management Systems
  • Sound knowledge of import/export customs procedures (ETSF experience preferred)
  • Understanding of container load planning and IMDG code
  • Experience with stock control and reconciliation
  • Forklift licence (preferred – training can be provided)
  • Full UK driving licence

  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external contacts
  • Ability to self-manage and meet tight deadlines
  • Confident in making decisions within scope of authority
  • Detail-oriented and accurate data entry
  • Customer-focused with a proactive and professional approach
  • High level of computer literacy

Working Hours & Environment:

  • Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (40 hours per week)
  • May require occasional Saturday cover on a rotating basis in the future, depending on customer demand
  • Split between office and warehouse environments
