TLP are delighted to be working with our client, an award winning, global logistics company in their search for an experienced Transport Planner to work within their busy Transport department. This role is based in their Ipswich office (not town centre) with onsite parking.
Role Outline
As UK Transport Planner, you will possess strong communication skills as you will be the main liaison point between fleet operations, Drivers, and the Warehouse team. You will plan and oversee all matters related to the Drivers, including route planning and scheduling, coaching, supporting, and debriefing the driving team to achieve an outstanding service to customers. Ideally, you will be an experienced Transport planner or highly experienced HGV Driver with experience in both FCL and LCL deliveries.
Key Requirements
• Plan and organise the delivery of goods to customers
• Produce loading and delivery schedules to ensure effective delivery and collection of goods
• Organise vehicle fleet maintenance and inspection requirements
• Manage driver absence and holidays ensuring adequate cover
• Use internal software to input bookings and liaise with transport team
• Work with the Transport team to ensure customers are kept up to date with delivery times
• Knowledge of safety and legal compliance
What you will need
• Experience working within the transport and logistics industry (advantageous)
• Strong levels of communication with clients and suppliers internal and external to ensure seamless transport services
• Ability to problem solve and think outside of the box to find solutions
• Good understanding of Port systems and operations
• Understanding of AEO Procedures
• High level customer service skills and excellent phone manner
• Excellent organisational skills
• Strong geographical knowledge
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivation, being able to prioritise work and meet deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
Professional Qualifications
To be considered for this excellent opportunity you should ideally have one or more of the following
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in National, or International Road Haulage.
- NVQ level 3 in Logistics Operations Management.
- Driving Goods Vehicles Level 2 & Level 3
- Transporting Goods by Road Level 2
- Transporting Freight by Road Level 3
- Traffic Office Level 2 & Level 3
- Commercial Moving Level 2
- Food Safety for Logistics Level 2
- Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CILT) Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma
