About the Role

My client is seeking an experienced Food Ingredient Buyer to join their procurement team based in Kidderminster. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality food ingredients while ensuring cost efficiency and supplier reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food industry trends, supplier relationships, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase food ingredients in line with company quality, cost, and sustainability standards
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers
  • Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and ingredient availability
  • Manage inventory levels and optimize procurement strategies
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies
  • Identify and evaluate new ingredient suppliers to enhance product offerings
  • Analyse purchasing data to improve cost savings and procurement efficiency

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Buyer/Purchasing Specialist in the food industry
  • Strong knowledge of food ingredients, supply chain management, and procurement processes
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven purchasing decisions
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and supplier audits
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
